Kate Eltzroth
Senior Advisor for Health Programs
Kate Eltzroth brings over 15 years of experience in the Department of Defense Military Health System, from the individual hospital level to the Pentagon's office for Army Medical Research, Development, Test, and Evaluation. Through this broad experience, she has gained an explicit understanding of the DOD's Medical Budget, and Research, Development, Test, and Evaluation Communities. The last 10 years have been spent at the US Army Medical Research and Materiel Command (MRMC) where she worked in several different capacities to turn state-of-the-art research into state-of-the-art care for soldiers, sailors, airmen and other beneficiaries. Her passion is to facilitate the establishment of government, academic, and civilian partnerships in the delivery of consumer-centric and information rich healthcare supporting both the government and civilian sectors.
Most recently, Ms. Eltzroth served as the Medical Liaison Officer integrating the missions of the Chief Scientist of the Army and MRMC, ensuring effective coordination and partnering across several parallel DOD organizations engaged in relevant medical research and development. During this four year period, Ms. Eltzroth also served as the Medical Technology Staff Officer. In that capacity, she provided guidance on the annual Medical RDT&E budget and engaged in the establishment of a Strategic Partnership Office intended to provide more rapid transit of medical research to end users. Throughout her tenure at MRMC, she frequently served as the Command's "institutional knowledge" for Congressional Special Interest (CSI) programs, monitoring the legislative process and providing consultation to the Research Area Directors on all matters with Congressional impact. She also spent 6 years as the Congressional Liaison for the Telemedicine and Advanced Technology Research Center (TATRC) where she played a central role in growing the DOD's largest medical technology research and development portfolio.
Ms. Eltzroth has a Masters of Hospital and Health Administration from Xavier University in Cincinnati, OH, a Bachelor of Science Degree in Health Service Administration from Ohio University, and a Certificate in Legislative Studies from the Government Affairs Institute at Georgetown University.
