Jeff Janey
Vice President for Defense and Homeland Security Programs
Jeff Janey is the Vice President for Defense and Homeland Security Programs. He was born and raised in Minneapolis, Minnesota and has a Bachelor of Science Degree from the U.S. Air Force Academy and a Master of Science Degree in Management of Technology from the University of Minnesota. Jeff has also completed professional education studies at the Defense Acquisition University and the University of Minnesota’s Carlson School of Management.
After graduating from the Air Force Academy, Jeff cross-commissioned into the Army and reported to Flight school in Fort Rucker, Alabama. He received his wings and then proceeded to line assignments at Fort Bliss and Fort Carson with the 3d Armored Cavalry Regiment. He served as an Attack Helicopter Platoon Leader, S-3 Air for a ground Squadron, and an Air Cavalry Troop Commander. Jeff returned to Fort Rucker to attend the Aviation Officer’s Advanced Course. He then accepted a Branch Chief assignment with the Directorate of Combat Developments where he gained extensive requirements and defense procurement experience.
Jeff left Active Duty in 2000 and accepted a Business Development position at ATK. He was instrumental in developing and executing their long-term indirect fire business strategy. He set out an aggressive plan to grow the indirect fire business from zero to $20M per year in less than four years. The strategy was successful and was highlighted by winning a major Army Guided Mortar contract and positioning another Precision Guidance program for a System Development and Demonstration program win. Jeff worked on International Programs, with defense contractors around the world, for Mortars and Advanced Warheads gaining experience on innovative technology and international partnering. He worked in these business development and program management positions for Munitions and Advanced Programs until 2005. He gained valuable customer experience working with the Army, Air Force, USMC, SOCOM, and DARPA. His last two years at ATK were in their Commercial business (Federal Cartridge, Speer, CCI, etc.) doing Business Development for the DOD and DHS. This was excellent experience gained in taking commercial products into the Government business segment. He had an unprecedented win percentage for strategic pursuits and brought in over $200M in orders within the next five years. He co-led the ATK Civil Ammunition Business Strategy Team to focus on innovative new products and sustained competitive advantage. Jeff was also the President of the Midwest Chapter of the National Defense Industrial Association (NDIA).
Jeff joined the ADI team in September 2007 and resides in Minneapolis, MN. He brings a wealth of DOD and DHS experience to the team.
